TouchDesigner - Capacitive Recording Button
In order to give access to users to take pictures and capture video of themselves playing with the project, I used a MakeyMakeyGo to create a capacitive sensor button that would activate the "Q" key in TouchDesigner.
I wanted to use the same button to either take a picture or take video depending on the amount of time it was held down. This proved more challenging to a new Python coder such as myself. But through a mix of Timer CHOPs and scripting I pulled it off. And it only also took pictures when recording video about a third of the time! (eeek).
It was also good to learn about outputting video and image files directly from Touch - something a friend who I just started teaching to use it immediately started doing when I hadn't actually realized it could. I of course feigned like I knew about it the whole time.
*The below project download is the TouchDesigner project we started with that's also posted on the other project pages that are pieces of this whole.
